My sister is the most A-mazin’ woman anywhere. Let me tell
you about her. If you haven’t noticed, she’s got a way with words. I can’t
really tell where she learned to be so insightful because it definitely wasn’t
from me! I’m 8 yrs older and even though I feel older physically, I don’t feel
“older and wiser”, as if I’m the one with all the answers. She gives me just as
much advice and support as if we have always been the same age, like we are
now. (haha) My sister also has this completely mysterious aspect of her
personality. No matter how well you think you may know her, she WILL surprise
you by something she does or says. No matter how well you know her. No matter
how well. No matter.
A really interesting thing I did one time is read some of
her college papers she had to write. I was blown away! They were so good! What
was funny is she didn’t even remember doing some of them because she just wrote
them and got them out of the way. If Heidi was on the Twilight series, she
would be like that where Edward couldn’t read her mind because she thinks
differently than anyone else and no one can follow her train of thought and
come to the same conclusions.
One time she tripped up some stairs at our parents’ house
(yes, UP), and while catching her fall with her hand, some orange peels rolled
out of it onto the carpet at the top of the stairs and she was in a huge hurry
and as she ran out the door she said, “Elli do you mind if you have to pick
that up?” I felt like I knew exactly what she meant, because it’s everything in
fewer words. Another time she said, “Not to be crude, but I like that outfit.”
Do you see? You know exactly what she means and it makes perfect sense – but it
also doesn’t.
She also has this uncanny ability to make any situation
[that she wants to!!] into the best situation in the world. If it’s raining and
you don’t want it to, she makes you feel like you actually do want it to. If
something atrocious happens to you that is totally unfair, she is able to make
you feel like it truly is better that way!
I could go back to when she was still a little girl and the
8 yrs made a much bigger difference, also – that is probably our most
definitive bonding time. I just couldn’t wait for her to be just barely old
enough to drive around in my car with me, go to movies, play ultimate
Frisbee with college buddies, make silly jokes (and videos;-)... she has always
been my best friend, ever since she was born, ever since she could walk, could
talk, could laugh with me, sing with me, and go with me through everything.
